Autumn Workshop Polish Bioinformatics Society (PBIS) 2020

Autumn Workshop Polish Bioinformatics Society (PBIS) 2020

The Autumn Workshop of the Polish Bioinformatics Society (PBIS) 2020 was held online on November 26-27. During the two days of the workshop, 7 poster sessions were conducted, during which participants presented their research results in a virtual "conference room". There was also a session of master's theses and a session of doctoral theses in the field of bioinformatics defended in 2019. Each session had time to ask questions and discuss after each presentation, but also at the end of each session and in the chat. Thanks to this, despite the "virtual" form of the workshop, it was possible to discuss the most interesting presented results with other participants and initiate interesting scientific discussions.

ZFM was represented by PhD student Sonia Wróbel with a poster entitled “Canonical Correlation- based bioinformatic analysis for effective melanoma biomarker discovery “. The poster presents a novel bioinformatics method for biomarker discovery based on canonical correlation analysis that has been successfully validated with data from extracellular vesicles of human melanoma. The presented research are the result of cooperation between the ZFM Extracellular Vesicles Group under the leadership of professor Ewa Stępień and the group of the Bioinformatics and Telemedicine Department of Collegium Medicum UJ with the participation of dr. hab. Monika Piwowar and PhD student Cezary Turek.
